As the public sector regional film archive for the Midlands our primary aim is to connect the people of central England with their diverse moving image heritage. Part of this role involves developing a collection of film and video materials that people and communities can use to meet their needs. This could be a matter of supplying footage to a museum or a gallery or conducting a screening in a local cinema. Equally, the people of the Midlands can access MACE's collections via tv programmes that have drawn on its holdings. We also provide a free of charge viewing service to members of the public and, in certain circumstances, we can supply copies of titles to members of the public.
As MACE does not own the rights to any of the material it holds we must always observe the wishes of depositors and copyright holders before supplying any footage. We also follow the guidelines laid down in the Film Archive Forum's document, The Moving Image Archive Framework, which can sometime limit what we can provide.
