We can care for your film and tapes (for further information on how we do this please click here) under two different agreements:
Deposit agreement - When film or video is deposited with MACE it remains the property of the depositor and the original copyright position remains unchanged. Depositors agree to allow MACE to copy the material to ensure its long term preservation and to allow it to be used in certain non-profit making contexts. We must obtain the permission of the depositor and copyright holder for all commercial uses of the material unless agreed otherwise.
Donation agreement - When film or video is donated to MACE by the copyright holder it becomes our property and we also assume the right to use it as we see fit.
If you have film or video that you would like MACE to care for then please contact us to let us know what you have.
It might be necessary for one of MACE's staff to visit you to assess what you have and to determine whether or not it fits within our collecting remit. If it does and it does not duplicate material that we already hold then it is likely that we would wish to care for the material.
If this is the case then we would discuss with you the terms of donation or deposit including the possibility of providing copies of a small quantity of the material.
If it does not then we can help you decide what you might do with it next.
