Summary
John Swallow report about Emily Hadley from Tipton who prefers the old fashioned dolly tub method of washing her clothes.

Description
John Swallow interviews Emily Hadley whilst she does her washing in the kitchen of her house at Summerhill in Tipton. She says that she's always followed her mother's example. She also starts to sing. We then see her outside pounding her clothes in a dolly maid and singing whilst accompanied by her husband Len on the mouth organ. The sound track also includes a Black Country poem about wash day. John Swallow talks to women in a local launderette and asks their views on the old fashioned washing methods. We also see washing machines in a launderette and Mrs Hadley hanging her washing out to dry.
