MACE's central role is to serve the communities of the Midlands.
It is therefore our duty to ensure that the moving images held by us can be enjoyed by those communities, now and in the future.
There are a variety of ways that you can experience MACE's collections.
ON THE WEB
The first is the taster that we are offering you on this site. Please utilise the simple search tool that appears at the top of every page to determine if there is any material that you might be interested in seeing. There is also a more advanced search tool if your enquiry is more specific.
You will find that some of the entries have extracts from the title attached to them, which we hope you enjoy.
Although we are constantly increasing the number of entries on our database it does not contain references to all the titles that are held at MACE. If you cannot find what you are looking for then please contact Richard Shenton who will be able to guide you through the uncatalogued sections of the collections.
Equally, if the clips you've seen here have whet your appetite for more then Richard will be your contact as well.
VIEWING AT MACE
Members of the public with a research interest can visit the archive to view titles from the collections free of charge. If you would like to make an appointment or require more information about the titles that we hold please contact Richard Shenton.
VIEWING COPY FROM MACE
In some cases we are able to produce one-off viewing copies of titles on DVD or VHS for you to watch at home. This service is dependent on the condition of the material, the format it is held on as well as obtaining permission from the copyright holders to copy it. A charge is made for this service to cover our costs. If you would like further information then please contact Richard Shenton.
MACE SCREENINGS
MACE conducts screenings across the East and West Midlands of titles taken from its collections and partner archives. These screenings offer opportunities to see programmes of material often not seen in decades and have made a real stir in the communities that they have touched.
Details of the latest screenings can be found on our blog, maceLive and on our Facebook page. You can also subscribe to our electronic newsletter for a quarterly update on what we're doing in the region.
MUSEUMS AND LIBRARIES
MACE material is often used in exhibitions organised by museums, and libraries across the Midlands. As a member of the public you will encounter titles from MACE in cities as far apart as Leicester and Coventry. Visit maceLive and Facebook to see where are footage is currently being exhibited.
TELEVISION
Look out for MACE's name during the credit sequence at the end of a programme containing archive material. Material from our collections has been used in programmes as varied as Nation on Film on BBC2 and Britain's Psychic Challenge on Channel 5. Most recently our footage has been used in BBC's Flog It! and Great British Railway Journeys.
